Following our special charity fundraising week, including lots of ‘golden activities’, the colour which represents childhood cancer awareness, we are delighted to announce that Alice’s Arc will be our designated charity and we will continue to support them going forward.
Founded by a local Sevenoaks family at the end of 2015, their daughter Alice was diagnosed with a childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma in March 2015, at the age of 3. Alice battled the disease for almost 5 years she enjoyed several periods of remission. However, in the summer of 2019, the cancer returned extensively in a new location. Alice had exhausted all the treatment options available and sadly died in October 2019, a few weeks prior to her 8th birthday.
The mission of the charity is to fund research into understanding rhabdomyosarcoma in order to find better treatments and a cure for the disease. Alice’s Arc works closely with centres of excellence like the Institute of Cancer Research, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal Marsden in order to achieve this.
